My trip to Washington DC right now...

I was worried due to more than 2 feet of snow fall in Washington just a week back. The airport Washington Dulles airport was closed just last Thursday. However, the worst seemed to get over and I could fly on time to Washington Dulles airport on Sunday 14th Feb.

Just 20 days back, I was in San Jose and LA, where I mostly stayed in hotels, This time for a change I decided to stay in a youth hostel. It is http://www.hiwashingtondc.org . It costs 40 dollars per day in a shared room for 4 people.

I landed at 4pm and took Washinton Flyer bus (in stead of 5A bus) to West Fall Church Metro station. The Washinton Flyer is relatively costly, For one way, it costs 10 dollars and for 2 ways, it is 18 USD. Then, I took the mtro orange line to McPherson Station and from there the hostel was walkable. The GPS in my i-pod was pretty helpful. I also carry a compas and a map always, when ever I travel to a city for first time. I reached at about 7pm at the Hostel and the outside temperature by about 30 deg F or below 0 deg C,

The guy at reception was courteous and he agreed to get me a lower bed and lower locker in the room. i pushed my 30 inch suitcase, laptop, camera and some Indian MTR ready made items packets inside that locker and went around to explore the nearby areas.

After eatint at McDonalds, I am now freely using the free-wifi at the dinning cum meeting area of the hostel at 2nd floor. This hall is pretty well heated and quite comfortable. Its 10pm now and I will complete some pending work before going to bed. Tomorrow, I will explore the city.
